At likemary, Nicky personally dedicates time to sourcing every fabric. She visits both the artisans who create the garments and the fabric suppliers at least once a year to ensure that all materials are sourced from trusted suppliers. Nicky's commitment to supporting local craftspeople means that likemary provides an opportunity for artisans to showcase their skills and share their unique handmade creations with the world.
SMALL-BATCH PRODUCTION
Many of likemary’s garments are made from off-cuts and reclaimed fabric, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
Every new style is first made in small-batch production and always from reclaimed fabric.
We love this approach because it ensures that these limited drops cannot be mass-produced - once the fabric is gone, it's gone!
This means you'll likely be the only person you know wearing a unique style and print.
WHAT IS RECLAIMED FABRIC?
Reclaimed fabric refers to material that has already been produced but was not used for its original purpose. This could include the ends of rolls from large-scale production that would otherwise be discarded, or fabric that was rejected for reasons such as the colour not matching expectations, the print not turning out as planned, or simply because it was no longer needed.
It’s important to note that reclaimed fabric does not mean the material is damaged or flawed in any way – it simply offers a second chance for good fabric to be transformed into something beautiful and purposeful.
MERINO WOOL
Merino wool is at the heart of likemary’s inspiration, with Nicky’s well-traveled Handmade Shawl as a testament to its enduring quality, still as beautiful after countless journeys.

Nicky’s tip in whispers: It’s OK to hand wash your likemary Merino wool blanket scarves in cold water. No spinning or wringing - just wash gently and dry flat or hang over the radiator. But shhh, we can't put this on the label!

RAYON, VISCOSE & MODAL
- Eco-Friendly Production: Modal, in particular, is made from sustainably harvested beech trees and requires less water and energy to produce than cotton.
- Silk-Like Draping: These semi-synthetic fibers are known for their smooth texture and ability to drape elegantly, offering a luxurious feel at a lower price.
- Resistant to Shrinkage: Modal in particular is less prone to shrinking and stretching than other natural fibers, making it a low-maintenance, durable choice.
